Since this is a survey course, let's begin with a definition of what it means to survey something. From the VisuWords online graphical dictionary, the image of 'survey' comes to life. To survey means to measure, triangulate, consider, study, view, examine, inspect, overlook, review, analyze, poll, pursue, sketch, outline, and summarize. So, this is what we will do with the focus on digital teaching and learning.
Since you are both a teacher and a learner, these investigations will be viewed from two sides of the same coin. When applying digital technologies, you will need to consider and inspect these tools as they would apply to the classroom.
While we work together, there will need to be some Common Ground.
While the tasks for each week will shape your digital presence, you will need to focus on the creation of your DIGITAL SELF PORTRAIT as you survey digital teaching and learning. Finding technology tools to support and capture your thoughts on digital teaching and learning as you progress through this course will help you analyze, categorize, and synthesize the processes, tools and products you will explore.
In week one, we will explore the theory of constructivism as it relates to teaching and learning with digital technologies. We will map the terrain using Blooms taxonomy, as it applies to digital technologies. Then we will search the world of educational blogging. You will use and create digital content using digital technologies (Padlet, blogs).
